“The wrong ones will break you while the right one would make you.”
Growing up as the only child, I’ve always been independent and have enjoyed my freedom. my dad is always on transfers, It’s usually mom and I at home and I’ve stayed home alone till now, right from the age of twelve, I’ve started cooking for myself when I’m left alone. So when the idea of marriage was placed before me at the age of twenty-three my question was why get married at all?
I tried to find the answer to this very complex question but in vain, being a child of God, I then decided to seek His will because Ephesians 5:15-17 says do not be foolish but understand what the Lord’s will is, I’m certainly not trying to be foolish, hoping if it’s a big fat NO from the Lord, it would make my life easier.Instead, he told me that His perfect will was for me to get married. As years went by, I lost sight of the vision that God had set before me and I was carried away by the temptations of the world. The consequences led me to grieving the Holy Spirit and left me with a broken heart. That’s when my friend came along and said: “The wrong ones will break you while the right one would make you”.Those wise words made more sense to me when God made me realise how He created Eve.
Creation of Woman:
The Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him.”-Genesis 2:18
When God looked at every living creatures over, above and below the earth, He said it was good. But when He looked at Adam standing there all alone he said ‘Not Good’.He wanted to create a suitable helper for Adam.(Genesis 2:18-24).It is quite fascinating to note that Eve was created in every way suitable to understand and help Adam. And God’s will was that the two become one flesh.Eve wasn’t created the way God created Adam, nor was any other female creature created the way Eve was. While all along she could have been created like Adam but she wasn’t.She was created not out of the dust but out of Adam’s bones and flesh. That’s when God’s wisdom just blew my mind.Every woman like Eve is created in such a way she is suitable only for that particular Adam.Imagine if we seek our own will, we would end up with a wrong life partner and it would mess up the entire plan God has for us.Now how are we supposed to know whose rib we hold? That’s the reason why beyond our human comprehension you would need to seek God’s will.
The Threefold Cord:
“So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate.”- Matthew 19:6
What God intends to be one, was made two while creation and when God unites, the two that were made for each other, they become one both spiritually and physically, that is God’s will made whole. What God has joined let no one separate. When the two are united by God in marriage. It is not a union of two but three because you involve God too and that union of three forms the threefold cord.A threefold cord spoken of in the Bible is so powerful that it originally symbolises the Father, Son, and the Holyspirit.Such a strong bond is created during a marriage as well where the first two strands symbolises the husband and the wife wound around each other and the third strand that holds the two together is Yahweh.“And if one prevail against him, two shall withstand him; and a threefold cord is not quickly broken.”- Ecclesiastes 4:12.
So now you know to stop searching for a man to complete you.It is only God who can complete you.So seek His will.Put God first in everything you do.
